A Michigan state audit revealed that the Going Pro Talent Fund, designed to provide workforce training and credentials, improperly spent over $59 million reimbursing employers for basic on-the-job training instead of funding skills education as intended. Between 2022 and 2025, the program distributed $182. 5 million to 3,296 businesses, but auditors found that one-third of this funding violated program requirements by covering orientation and new-hire onboarding rather than credential-granting training.
