Ecuador's intelligence chief Michele Sensi-Contugi and six others died when their tourist helicopter crashed on Mount Ololokwe in Kenya's Samburu county during a scenic flight between wildlife areas. Among the deceased were Sensi-Contugi's wife, fashion designer Stephany Hollihan, five Americans including NBCUniversal journalist José Alberto Suárez and Miami restaurateur Roger Duarte, and the pilot. The 44-year-old intelligence director had been appointed to lead Ecuador's Centre of Strategic Intelligence in January 2024 and was considered a close ally of President Daniel Noboa.
