Three individuals with connections to England's West Country share their experiences of being in New York during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people. Paul Lilley from Chippenham believes he and his wife narrowly escaped death at the World Trade Center because they stopped for coffee before reaching the towers. Bristol resident Marisa Domizio witnessed the towers burning from her apartment window and sought others at a coffee shop to understand the unfolding events.
