A 15-year-old Alaska Native boy named Derek Parker Aghnaanga survived for two days in the frigid Bering Sea after his fishing boat capsized on Saturday, September 5th. He clung to the overturned 18-foot vessel in approximately 50-degree Fahrenheit water until a Coast Guard aircraft spotted him on Monday morning, when a nearby fishing boat pulled him to safety. Tragically, his older brother and cousin who were on the boat with him did not survive the incident.
