County Helps Businesses Prepare for Federal Enforcement Actions

February 6, 2026

San Diego County's Office of Labor Standards and Enforcement has launched a new video training series to educate businesses and employees about their rights when federal immigration enforcement authorities visit workplaces. The initiative, which began following a Board of Supervisors directive, includes three short videos covering actions to take before, during, and after federal authority visits, along with more comprehensive training options available in multiple languages. Since the program's first webinar in November, OLSE has conducted twelve training sessions reaching over 1,100 participants, while thousands more have accessed their dedicated website launched in September 2025.

Who is affected

  • Business owners and operators in San Diego County
  • Employees and workers in San Diego County
  • Community members concerned about federal immigration enforcement
  • More than 1,100 business owners, operators, workers, and community members who have already attended training sessions
  • Thousands of website visitors to OLSE's Know Your Rights site

Why it matters

  • This initiative is significant because it helps protect both businesses and workers during federal immigration enforcement actions by ensuring they understand their legal rights and responsibilities. The program promotes workplace safety, compliance with labor laws, and fairness while serving as part of a broader wage theft prevention strategy. By taking an educational and collaborative approach rather than a punitive one, the County aims to build awareness and make compliance easier for all parties involved.

  • More in-depth virtual or in-person trainings are available on request
  • Businesses and individuals can schedule Know Your Rights training or other training sessions through OLSE's website
