Scottish photographer Kieran Dodds has spent over a decade documenting people with red hair worldwide, culminating in his latest book focusing on ginger-haired Americans. After publishing his 2020 global collection, he discovered a significant gap in his work when American subjects began contacting him, leading him to explore how the diverse American population represents a "microcosm" of global red-haired communities. Through seven trips across the United States, Dodds photographed subjects ranging from Native Americans with mixed European heritage to Black Americans in interracial families, uncovering unexpected stories about genetic diversity and cultural identity.
